Read your spreadsheet in one screen
A spreadsheet answers questions you already know to ask. A dashboard tells you which questions to ask. Here is the difference, and why the scroll is costing you the story.

Open the last export you pulled: orders, ad spend, signups, whatever you keep an eye on. It has a header row and a few hundred rows underneath, and it is completely correct. It is also unreadable. You can look up any single value, and you cannot see a single trend.
That is the quiet cost of living in spreadsheets. The data is right there and the story is not, because a table is built for lookup, not for understanding. To see what changed you have to make a chart, and to make the right chart you have to already suspect the answer.
A dashboard changes the question
A good dashboard does not just draw your numbers. It decides which views are worth drawing. Revenue over time as a line. The channel breakdown as bars. The one month that sits outside the usual range, flagged. You did not ask for those; the point is that you would not have known to.
The test for a chart
A chart earns its place only if it answers a question the reader actually had, or reveals one they did not know to ask. Everything else is decoration.
